Your First Visit

Welcome to the website for Whitney United Methodist Church.  If you don't find all the information that you need on the site, be sure to either call us at 343-2892 or e-mail us at whitneyumc(at)qwest.net

As you drive into the parking lot from Overland Rd, turn to your right.  There are parking spaces clearly labeled "First Time Visitors".  One of those is reserved for you!

For those that need it, there is handicapped parking (for both small vehicles and vans) close to the front door of the church.

Until we build Phases 2 and 3 (our new Ed Building and new Sanctuary), we are meeting in Vernon Richards Hall.  While this is already an multi-purpose event center, eventually it will be dedicted full-time to church fucntions such dinners, dances, basketball games, volleyball, youth lock-ins, etc.

To the right, immediately inside the sanctuary door is a welcome table.  "Get Mugged"!  We have a free mug and literature for first time visitors and would like you to sign-up so that we know who you are.

If you choose to attend our 9:00 AM Contemporary Service, Linda Slupe will undoubtly greet you, see that you get coffee and cookies and then introduce you around.  Linda and her husband Bill are veterans of many ocean-going cruises.

If you go to the 11:00 AM Traditional Service, Hugh Nelson, our "Official First-Timer Greeter," will find you and start introducing you around.  Hugh is 89 years old and a long-time member of Whitney.  He and his wife of 66 years, Dorothy,  have more children, grand children, and great grand children than even they can count.

Before and after the service, coffee, tea and snacks are available at the rear of the sanctuary.  Help yourself and expect to start making new friends.
